Yavi | Making thoughtful practices part and parcel of all its creative processes.
Sustainability is no longer just a buzzword in the fashion industry, it’s becoming a necessity. As consumers become increasingly conscious of the impact of their fashion choices on the environment and society, designers have a responsibility to create fashion that is not only beautiful but also sustainable.
Sustainable fashion is all about creating clothing to minimize the impact on the environment and people involved in the production process. It involves considering the entire lifecycle of a garment, from the materials used to create it to its disposal, and finding ways to make that process as sustainable as possible.
As a designer, one has the definitive power to make a real difference in the fashion world by creating sustainable designs that look good and do good. Here’s how Yavi is making its contribution.
At Yavï, we believe that sustainability is not a trend that will come and go – it’s an urgent necessity for the future of our planet, and we take this responsibility seriously.

We incorporate sustainable practices into our designs, like our Upcycling Story category in our Spring Summer collection. This season, we’re experimenting with waste fabrics in an attempt to bring higher circularity to our processes. We’re using fabric yarns fashioned out of waste fabrics, commonly known as “Chindi”, handpicked and put together, to carefully design a series of abstract surfaces and textures. We’re constantly making efforts to become a part of the bigger conversations around sustainability in the fashion industry, and we strive to make as many systemic commitments as possible.
We also use hand painting techniques using found objects and blocks, repurposed textiles, and sustainable Khadi weaves. At Yavï, we believe that fashion can be both beautiful and sustainable, and we’re committed to doing our part to make the fashion industry more sustainable and responsible.
Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond just practicing it on our own but expanding our roots with the community to make a greater impact. Our goal is to create a community of conscious consumers who value quality, craftsmanship, and sustainability, and who are committed to making a positive impact on the world. We are always seeking out partnerships with like-minded retailers who share our values and are committed to promoting sustainable fashion. Through our interactive events and workshops, we aim to raise awareness about sustainability and encourage others to join us in this important mission.
That’s why we run interactive events, like our Coaster Making Workshop in New Delhi. At this event, we taught attendees how to make coasters from repurposed textile scraps, find a use for our textile waste, and encouraged others to do the same with their own unused textiles.
We also believe that by increasing our reach and making our products available to more customers, we can have a greater impact on the fashion industry and promote sustainable practices on a larger scale. We debuted our spring/summer 2019 collection at the multi-brand boutique Ragamuffin in Edinburgh, Scotland, and have launched in Ceci Paolo in Ledbury and in Colmers Hill in Bridport, UK. We’re excited to now have a presence in the US, UK, Italy, France, Belgium, Germany, Spain, South Korea, Switzerland, and Australia, and to be featured in a number of international museums.
At Yavi, We are excited to continue our journey towards a greener future, and we invite everyone to join us in this important mission.
